How to pixelate faces or private areas in a photo
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP. Click Detect faces to add automatically detected regions, or skip detection to mark areas yourself.
- Drag over the preview to add a mosaic rectangle wherever needed. Use Remove region or Clear regions to correct unwanted selections.
- Increase Pixel block size for coarser pixelation. Check small, turned or covered faces and any text or surroundings you also want to obscure.
- Click Download PNG after reviewing every region. Dashed editing outlines are not included in the downloaded image.
Pixelate a face and a name badge
Run Detect faces on a portrait, then draw an additional rectangle over the name badge. Increase the pixel block size until the selected details are sufficiently obscured for your use. Review the full image before sharing: clothing and surroundings can still reveal identity.
Frequently asked questions
Will automatic detection find every face?
No. Small, turned, covered or distant faces can be missed, and non-face regions can be selected by mistake. Add missing areas manually and remove unwanted detections.
Can I hide text or other objects as well as faces?
Yes. Manual rectangles can pixelate any region of the photo, including a name badge or license plate. Inspect the result carefully; weak pixelation may leave content recognizable.
Does this guarantee that a person cannot be identified?
No. Face detection and pixelation do not guarantee anonymity. Stronger pixelation can obscure more facial detail, but other visible features or context may still identify someone.
Supported files and limits
One still image up to 20 MB and 16 megapixels, with PNG output. Automatic detection downloads about 10 MB of AI files on first use. This tool pixelates images; it does not blur or process video.
When something does not work
A small or turned face was missed
Draw a manual rectangle over the missing area and increase the pixel block size. Automatic detection can miss faces or select non-face objects.
The person is still identifiable
Mosaic does not guarantee anonymity. Names, clothing, surroundings or recognizable shapes may reveal identity; review the whole photo.
Check your saved result
- Inspect every face and any name badges or identifying text.
- Reopen the saved PNG to confirm all intended areas are covered strongly enough.
