How to crop an image to the area you need
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image. The full image appears in the editing preview.
- Drag across the preview to select a rectangle, or enter Left, Top, Width and Height in pixels.
- For a centered crop, choose Square 1:1, Landscape 4:3, Wide 16:9 or Portrait 9:16. Refine the coordinates if needed.
- Click Download PNG to save only the selected area. Reset crop restores the full-image selection.
Create a square crop from a landscape photo
For a 1200 × 800 image, choose Square · 1:1. The centered selection is 800 × 800 pixels, with Left set to 200 and Top to 0. Download PNG, then use Resize image if you need a smaller profile picture.
Frequently asked questions
Does cropping resize or stretch the selected area?
No. Cropping removes pixels outside your selection and exports the selected dimensions. Use Resize image afterward to change the number of pixels.
Can I crop a JPG and save it as JPG?
This editor exports PNG. To create a JPG or WebP afterward, open the downloaded PNG in Convert image and choose the required format.
How do I start the selection again?
Click Reset crop to select the whole image, draw another rectangle, or edit the four pixel fields. The crop stays within the image boundaries.
Supported files and limits
One still JPG, PNG or WebP up to 20 MB and 16 megapixels. Output is PNG and may be larger than the original JPG. Rectangular cropping is supported; circular cutouts are not provided.
When something does not work
The crop feels offset
Use Left, Top, Width and Height for precise placement; these are source-image pixels, not screen pixels. Check the preview after choosing a preset.
